Merlin Club can trace it’s history right back to 1963 when
it was first founded as an Amateur Boxing Club in Derby

The Merlin CIC is a non-profit making organisation based in one of the most deprived areas of Derby City. Our membership represents the spectrum of established and emerging communities within the city. We have 21 different first languages spoken within the centre.

We offer a holistic approach to our work and provide a wide range of boxing and fitness coaching and training through which we actively encourage and promote social, physical, emotional and sporting development.

Over the years Merlin has developed partnership work with many local agencies and organisations including the Police, Probation, NHS, Social Care, Youth Offending Service, Pupil Referral Unit, Children and Young People’s Service, Disability groups and young people from most schools and youth clubs city wide, delivering sessions of recreational boxing and facilitating pathways to the Merlin Club.

But first and foremost The Merlin Club takes great pride in helping to provide a safe and nurturing environment where our members can gain a genuine sense of belonging and ownership, improve their health, have fun and meet new friends and be a part of the community.
